Dan grew up in North Augusta, SC, and has been involved in sports his whole life. He played football, basketball, baseball, and track in high school. He has been involved with FCA since high school and also during his time at Charleston Southern. He played college football at Charleston Southern from 1995-1998.  He was awarded the Michael Frost Christian Leadership award in 1997 and was the Student body President in 1998-99. He graduated May 1999 and received his bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management.

Dan came to know the Lord on October 13,1996 Homecoming weekend at CSU. A radical change happened in his life and Dan began to share with others how they could have true peace in their lives through a relationship with Jesus! Upon graduating, Dan took a job that brought him to Memphis, Tennessee. It was in early spring of 2000 that he felt called to full time ministry in missions. Leaving the comfort of his job, Dan went to seminary full time, and upon graduation in May 2004 began actively serving as a local student pastor. He has led students and adults on mission trips both locally, nationally, and internationally. He went on to serve several churches as their student/outreach pastor before returning to the Memphis area as a senior pastor in 2011.

Dan and Kara Cannon were married on May 12, 2001. Kara is from Memphis, TN and went to high school at Harding Academy. She went on to get her BSN from the Loewenberg College of Nursing at the University of Memphis. They have four children. Cannon, Ellie, Hallie Ann, and Asher. The family resides in Olive Branch, MS.
